My Review

This book was nothing like I’ve ever read before but I absolutely loved it and it is hands down the best book I’ve ever read! When I tell you I could not put this book down, I literally could not. I actually ended up finishing the book in just a few short days because I could not stop. This book is very well written, and there are so many unexpected twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I loved everything about it; the characters, setting, plot, climax, and ending. Just all of it. The sequence of events and how it all unfolded was just so amazing. I don’t think this book could have been written any better than it was. I do wish that there was a sequel to this book because the ending left me wanting more, but I also get why Colleen Hoover ended it the way she did.

Conclusion

This was definitely the best Colleen Hoover book (and also the best book) that I’ve ever read. This book just blows my mind and it definitely lives up to the hype. 5 stars for me!

The Last Thing He Told Me Book Review

The Last Thing He Told Me

Information
Author: Laura Dave

Published: 2021

Pages: 336

Genres: Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Domestic Fiction

My Rating: 4.5/5

Summary

The Last Thing He Told Me follows the story of a newly married woman named Hannah whose husband, Owen, unexpectedly disappears one day. All that he left was a note that said “Protect her.” The note refers to his 16 year old daughter, Bailey. The book follows Hannah and Bailey as they go on a journey to uncover secrets and find answers as to what happened and why Owen left them. They find pieces of Owen’s past that neither of them would have ever anticipated and learn that their lives may become jeopardized forever.

My Review

This was my first Laura Dave book and she pulled me in from the start. I enjoyed her writing style as she used flashbacks to give a better understanding of the characters, their relationships, and their motives. I liked how the story unraveled and I had a hard time putting it down. This book is fast paced, and it will keep you engaged all throughout. I rate it a 4.5 out of 5 because I wasn’t too happy with the ending. I wish there would’ve been more closure and I was left with some unanswered questions. Overall I really enjoyed the book and will definitely be giving Laura Dave’s other books a read as well!

Conclusion

Not only was this book chosen by Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club (Book of the Month Club) and the Richard and Judy Book Club, but it was also named as the Goodreads Mystery & Thriller of the Year for 2021. This book did not disappoint and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers and mysteries, or is looking to dip their toes in that genre! And if you’re not a huge reader, Apple TV+ released a series starring Jennifer Garner that is based on the book!
